Instead of a download ban, the parliament suggests that the entertainment industry should focus more on offering authorized alternatives. At the moment, it is practically impossible to download high quality copies of recent movies and TV-shows via legal channels in the Netherlands.
Totally agree, still almost impossible to buy video/audio content legally in the EU (talking from my own experience). Other EU countries like Switzerland are also taking the same stance on this subject. In your face, SOPA!
Like Louis CK’s recent experiment proved, people will buy your original content if you offer them in an easy to access, crap-free form. The best thing for the movie industry would be to learn their lesson and focus on innovation instead of policing the Internet.
