Most of us don’t even realise it, but the home pages for internet heavyweights such as Amazon, Facebook and YouTube have changed beyond recognition since they launched.
Likewise, most of us don’t remember that Google once had an exclamation mark – Google! – and only indexed 25 million pages, as opposed to 25 billion at last count, or that Amazon was once monochrome and billed as ‘Earth’s biggest bookshop.’
Nice look back on the first editions of today’s most popular websites: 1994’s Amazon, 1998’s Google, 2006’s Facebook and so on. Such a huge difference between the way they looked back then and their present designs.
