Look, if there’s one thing I’ve learned after turning my digital product side hustles into a al businesses, it’s this: KEEP. IT. SIMPLE.
You don’t need a 30-page business plan. You don’t need to spend months “getting ready.” And you definitely don’t need to drown in a sea of “what ifs” before taking action.
What you do need is this one-page business plan template (grab it free using the link below), and a clear, no-BS strategy that actually works.
I’m about to break the whole process down for you — step by step. Ready? Let’s go.
Phase 1: CLARITY — Who Are You Helping & What’s Their Struggle?
The biggest mistake people make when starting a digital product business? They focus on the product first.
Bad move.
Before you even think about creating something, you need to know WHOyou’re helping and WHAT problem they’re struggling with.
Step 1: Define Your Target Customer
An easy trick? Serve a past version of yourself.
Think back — who were you before you figured things out? What were you struggling with?
For me, that person was:
✅ Small business owners & entrepreneurs trying to grow using YouTube
✅ Coaches & consultants who want a loyal audience to sell to
✅ 9-to-5 employees desperate to escape their job & start a side hustle
Step 2: List Their Pain Points
Now, what’s stopping them from making progress?
Some common struggles my audience faces:
-
No time (full-time job = limited hours)
-
No clue how to get in front of the right audience
-
Overwhelmed by all the steps of launching & marketing
-
Nervous about putting themselves on camera
Step 3: Make Sure There’s Demand
Don’t just assume people will pay for a solution — prove it.
I personally interviewed 12 people who matched my target audience and asked them:
-
What’s your biggest struggle?
-
What have you already tried?
-
If I created [X], would you buy it?
Turns out? They needed what I was about to sell. 💰
Phase 2: OFFER — Create a Product That Sells Itself
Alright, now that you know who you’re helping and what they need, it’s time to create something they actually want to buy.
Step 1: Pick ONE Problem to Solve
You don’t need to solve everything. Just pick ONE problem your audience is struggling with and make the solution as simple as possible.
For me, I chose:👉 Help full-time workers grow a profitable YouTube channel without burning out.
Step 2: Brainstorm Digital Product Ideas
Your best bet? Offer multiple options — low-ticket and high-ticket products — so people can buy at different price points.
Here’s what my product suite looks like:
💰 $15 — YouTube Strategy Templates (customized for full-time workers)
💰 $50 — YouTube Strategy eBook (includes worksheets & tutorials) 💰 $300-$1,000 — YouTube Strategy Course (with live coaching & custom feedback)
Step 3: Find Your Unique Selling Point (USP)
Why would someone buy YOUR product instead of the hundreds of others out there?
Your USP (Unique Selling Proposition) is what sets you apart.
For example, my YouTube Strategy Templates aren’t just any templates. They’re made specifically for busy professionals juggling a job AND a business.
The more specific your USP, the easier it is to sell.
Phase 3: STRATEGY — Get Your Product in Front of the Right People
Now, let’s talk about making money.
A digital product sitting on your Google Drive doesn’t magically turn into sales. You need a marketing strategy that attracts buyers every day.
Step 1: Content Strategy — Get People to Find You
The best way to attract customers? Post valuable content consistently.
Here’s a simple plan:
✅ Pick One Main Platform — Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, whatever makes sense for your audience.
✅ Post Consistently — Example: 2–3 Instagram Reels per week with bite-sized YouTube growth tips.
✅ Go Deeper with Long-Form Content — Example: One YouTube video per week with a full strategy breakdown.
🚨 IMPORTANT: If you’re not posting consistently, you’re invisible. And if you’re invisible, you’re not making sales.
Step 2: Email Strategy — Turn Followers into Buyers
Your email list is your #1 sales tool. Why?
Because you don’t own your social media accounts. If Instagram vanished tomorrow, would you still have a way to reach your audience?
If the answer is no, you need to start building your list NOW.
Here’s how:
-
Offer a freebie (PDF, checklist, mini-course, whatever) in exchange for emails
-
Promote it every single week on Instagram & YouTube
-
Send weekly emails packed with tips + product offers
Examples of freebies I’ve used:
🎁 Free 30-minute training on setting up a YouTube channel
🎁 PDF guide on “5 Mistakes to Avoid as a New YouTuber”
Your freebie pulls them in. Your weekly emails keep them engaged. And when you drop a paid product? Boom — sales.💥
Final Thoughts: Keep It Stupid Simple & Just Start
Here’s the truth: Most people overcomplicate this.
They spend months tweaking their website, second-guessing their ideas, and waiting for the “perfect” time to start.
Don’t be that person.
All you need is this one-page plan:
✅ Clarity: Know WHO you’re serving & WHAT problem they need solved
✅ Offer: Create simple, valuable products at different price points
✅ Strategy: Show up consistently, grow your email list, and sell
That’s it. No fluff. No unnecessary steps. Just a simple system that works.
